This week in class, one of our numeracy games has been Collect 10. This game is similar to Go Fish, instead students ask for a card that will
make 10 with one of their cards.
How To Play
- Remove all the Full Ten Frame cards, then shuffle
- Deal each player 5 cards
- Before starting, each player looks at their cards to see if they have any matches already. A match would be a Ten Frame that show 1, and a Ten Frame that shows 9. Or a Ten Frame that shows 2, and a Ten Frame that shows 8. Etc. If a player finds a match, they must place it down, verbally say the number sentence and record (write down) the number sentence.
- Player 1, asks another player, let's say player 3, for a card (that when added to one of player 1's cards, would make 10).
- If Player 3 has the card that was asked for, player 3 gives it to player 1. If player 3 does not have the card player 1 asks for then player 1 draws a card.
- Turn shifts to player 2.
See..... It's just like go fish, but students are learning sums of ten and subitizing as well!
